Cheap, Truly Unlimited Internet for RVing, Van Life, and Travel Therapy | $25-$45/month
Need truly unlimited mobile internet for your RVing, Van Life, and/or Travel Therapy adventures at a cheap price? Look no further. We have the solution for you!
Since 2020, Megan and I have used Visible Wireless by Verizon for all of our mobile internet requirements. This includes when we were full-time RVers in our completely renovated Class-A motorhome, when we were using short-term rentals through AirBnB and Furnished Finders, and even when we were living in our “sticks and bricks” home in Missouri. We’ve traveled to many different states all over the United States, and have been genuinely astonished by how amazing Visible internet has been considering we’ve only paid $25-$40 per month for truly unlimited internet the entire time.
What is Visible then? Visible is a mobile data and cell service provided on the Verizon network to compete with other carriers like T-Mobile’s Metro and AT&T’s Cricket Wireless. This indicates that its service is offered utilizing Verizon towers which has historically had excellent coverage throughout the United States. Therefore with Visible you will have unlimited internet access as long as you have cell service.
Currently, Visible offers two different cell phone plans: Visible (Basic), which costs $30 per month, and Visible Plus (Premium), which costs $45 per month. Both options offer unlimited talk, text, and data as well as unlimited hotspot without an annual contract. Once you sign up for a plan (using our referral code for $20 off the first month), Visible will send you a SIM card to be put in a phone. Members used to be able to then join a “party plan” with friends to lower the payment down to $25 per month, but this is no longer offered. If you did have the original Visible Unlimited Plan before the new plans were released, then you’re able to remain in your Party Pay party (with the price locked in at $25 per month). If this isn’t you, that’s okay! The Visible Basic plan is essentially the original Visible Unlimited plan for only $30 per month for unlimited talk/text/data/hotspot. That’s incredible!
Since you'll utilize the hotspot features the most, let's concentrate on them. You will be able to hotspot from your Visible phone just like you can from your personal phone. Visible has always stated on its website that while using the hotspot feature, you are only allowed to connect 1 device and that the internet speed will be throttled to 5 mbps (a very slow speed). We were really concerned at first, but it turned out that neither of these were accurate. Our hotspot has always supported multiple device connections, and when we tested the hotspot's internet speed, it was consistently significantly faster than 5 mbps. We have shared the service with and interacted with other Visible users who have had the same experience. So, is this a Visible error? The world's best-kept secret? Or was it created with this intent? The answer is unknown! However, we love it, and you will too!
Get $20 off your first month of service with Visible by using our promo code - NbwJm - or our promo link: https://www.visible.com/get/?NbwJm. It has all the info you need to know about joining Visible.
Simply use our link, add what you need to your cart/select a plan, then pop our friend code in the promo box unless it’s already there. Now you will receive $20 off one month of service. Yay!
FRequently Asked Questions:
What can you Use your Visible hotspot for?
We have been able to work on our computers, connect our cell phones to the hotspot, stream live sports and TV, stream TV shows from several sources, and upload big video files for our YouTube channel. Due to the fact that we produce YouTube videos and are content creators, I would say Megan and I utilize the internet more frequently than the average traveler.
Can I play online video games or conduct video conferences for work?
We do not play video games. Therefore, we haven't evaluated the internet service's capacity for intense online gaming. To play video games, I would assume that you would need a faster internet connection, although that could be challenging to obtain when traveling. Additionally, we've never had to conduct numerous daily video calls and conferences while "working from home." We have presented on travel therapy over various Zoom calls with numerous universities, and we have never had any problems. Throughout the 45 minutes to 1 hour presentations, there were no disconnections, lags, or poor video quality. Visible is a monthly plan, which is good. So if it doesn't work for you after a month, you can stop using the service.
What’s the “catch”?
Though we have been waiting to discover the "catch" for more than three years, we haven't actually encountered any problems. The only thing we can say about the Visible service is that it tends to receive more spam calls and texts. However, we just turn off the phone ringer so that we aren't bothered by it since we don't use it as a personal phone.
Which hotspot or phone should I use with the Visible SIM card?
To serve as your dedicated "internet phone" or "hotspot," Megan and I strongly advise using an old phone (you know, the one gathering dust in a drawer at home) or purchasing Visible's cheapest phone ($50). The Visible website can be used to determine which phone models work with the Visible SIM card because not all smartphones do. Keeping a separate “internet phone” from your personal cell phone allows you to leave your Visible internet phone plugged into the charger and out of your way.
Do you utilize Visible for your personal phones?
No. We currently maintain a separate "internet phone" and use different mobile service providers for each of our personal phones. In the unlikely event that Verizon experiences one of those infrequent service outages, this enables us to hotspot from our personal phones on those other cell provider networks.
Do I require a WiFi or cellular signal booster?
With our Visible internet configuration, we have never utilized a WiFi or cell signal booster. We have never experienced a lack of reliable mobile service in the RV parks, short-term rentals, or our home, thus we haven’t had a need for boosting. That being said, if you’re planning on staying in more remote locations in your RV or van, we’d recommend getting both. Many of our Van Life and RVing friends who change their travel location more often than we do use various WiFi and Cell Signal boosters. Here are a few that get recommended to us all the time:
