What's the goal for your next travel assignment?

What do you hope to accomplish on your next Travel Assignment?

Every travel therapist should prioritize these three things when looking for a job: Pay, Setting, and Location

The ranking of these objectives can differ significantly amongst therapists depending on your particular life goal or goals.

Is it your major objective to:

  • Improve your clinical skills in a specific environment?

  • Earn more money to invest or pay off your student loan debt?

  • Visit as many national parks or nearby cities as possible?

What is the aim? And it may vary from one assignment to the next. This is something that my wife (Megan) and I have just learned because our family has grown and we are now in a different season of travel.

Our primary concern when setting out to travel as new graduates was the location. We desired excitement. We wished to see breathtaking sights, visit several national parks, and reside in locations of the United States about which we have always had curiosity.

Since it was only my wife and I at that time and we had fewer expenses and commitments, we were able to be more flexible with our assignment income and therapy setting choices in order to visit the US states we wanted to visit!

In order to achieve our location target, we remained flexible, but that didn't always mean we didn't accomplish 2 out of 3 or even 3 out of 3 items on our priority list. Along in the process, I realized how much I cherished the home health setting's work-life balance. Not a place I would have actively sought out as a new graduate. Additionally, we received some quite lucrative assignments.

My wife and I have a new objective for our assignments, and I'm sure it will vary over time as our family's needs and preferences change. But that's what makes travel therapy such a fascinating profession. It's your life. Your career. Additionally, the objective or objectives that you're pursuing are up to you.

What's your main goal for the next assignment? Let us know below ๐Ÿ‘‡
